Twice-released Jets RB C.J. Spiller says 'I know I'm a great player'
C.J. Spiller joined his third team this season -- signing with the New York Jets earlier this week -- and has eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards just once in his seven-year career.
But despite being released twice this season, Spiller hasn’t lost faith in his ability.
“I know I’m a great player,” Spiller said, via ESPN.com. “I know I can play in this league. My confidence is not down. I’m excited about the opportunity I have here.”
Spiller hasn’t lived up to expectations since being drafted ninth overall by the Bills in 2010. He was released by the Saints after initially making the 53-man roster, then was cut by the Seahawks after rushing for 9 yards on three carries. He did catch a touchdown during his two-game stint in Seattle.
Maybe he can get his career back on track with the 3-5 Jets, who face the Dolphins on Sunday.
