Detroit Lions defensive tackle Caraun Reid insists he's not the same guy he was last season, when he was a fifth-round rookie who appeared in 12 games but failed to record a tackle. After training with former Lion Ndamukong Suh this offseason, Reid describes himself as a "new player," according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

"I'm a different person, a different player than last year, so that's like the best thing about everything," Reid told the Free Press. "Everything that I did last year means nothing. I'm a new guy and just want my film to speak for itself and I let everything going forward represent a new me."

Reid was the "biggest winner" of Lions minicamp, according to Birkett. He impressed head coach Jim Caldwell, who said the D-tackle is in "superb shape" in his second professional season.

Suh played a tremendous role in Reid's transformation.

"Just a great mentor, a great friend," Reid told the Free Press about Suh. "(He helped me) get into sort of a lifestyle in which you really are a true professional athlete. Take everything seriously, don't take anything for granted and make sure you're on top of everything. That's the main thing he's taught me."

Even though he's now a member of the Miami Dolphins, Suh's All-Pro impact is still being felt in Detroit.
