Titans' pass rush feeling Derrick Morgan's absence

The shoulder injury that ended the season for Tennessee Titans linebacker Derrick Morgan has impacted more than just the six-year veteran.

With Morgan sidelined the past three games before being placed on injured reserve this week, the Tennessee pass rush has seen a steep drop in its effectiveness.

Morgan and linebacker Brian Orakpo have combined for 11.5 sacks this season, but without Morgan in the lineup, the Titans have registered just four sacks in the last three games. This after Tennessee averaged just over three sacks per game over the first 10 games of the season.

Orakpo leads the team in sacks with 7.0, but has yet to register one in the three games since Morgan was sidelined.

“When you have guys that can come off both sides, it’s a threat,” Tennessee interim coach Mike Mularkey said. “And I think you’ve seen a little bit of what’s happened since his presence has been missing.”

Morgan was injured earlier in the season and attempted to play through it before electing to have surgery on Monday.
