Titans intent on giving rookie RB Cobb more work this week

After his team ran for just 44 yards in Sunday's 24-21 loss to the Oakland Raiders, Tennessee Titans interim head coach Mike Mularkey said rookie running back David Cobb needs to be more involved int he offense.

Cobb, who spent the beginning of the year on inured reserve with a calf injury and made his regular-season debut in the Titans' 19-13 loss to Jacksonville on Nov. 19, had just three carries for eight yards against the Raiders. As a team, the Titans had a just 18 rushing attempts total in the loss.

"We have to try and establish the run a little better in the first half and he has to be a part of that," Mularkey said, per the team's official website. "We definitely want to get (Cobb) more chances.”

A 2015 fifth-round pick, Cobb has seven carries for five yards in two games this season.

The Titans, who have been held below 100 yards on the ground in two of the last three games, are 25th in the NFL in rushing, averaging 93.2 yards per game.

Tenneesee take on Jacksonville for the second time in three weeks on Sunday.
