Thomas Davis to become the first active player to announce a team's first-round pick
Thomas Davis of the Carolina Panthers has had quite the offseason, to say the least.
After winning the NFL's Man of the Year award back in January, he's now being honored in another way. Davis will become the first active player to announce a team's first-round draft pick in the upcoming NFL Draft on Thursday, April 30, according to The Charlotte Observer.
Davis, who is widely considered as one of the classiest men in the NFL, was obviously excited about the opportunity to announce the No. 25 overall pick.
"I'm excited. This is a huge honor. I'm going to really enjoy the moment," Davis told the Panthers' website. "I know the NFL has done some things in the past where they've had guys announce a third or fourth-round pick, but a player getting to announce the first-round pick is pretty special."
So while fans of the Panthers will get to celebrate a new addition to the roster, one of the defensive leaders will be able to immediately welcome his newest teammate.
