The Washington Redskins shutdown Baltimore Ravens offense in second half to earn their to third straight victory.

A lot has been made about the struggling 2016 Washington Redskins defense, who ranks 29th in the league, but Joe Barry’s men stepped up to the task and pummeled Joe Flacco‘s led Ravens offense in 16-10 win.

After Baltimore drove down 75 yards to score on their opening series, Washington’s defense settled down and held Ravens to only three points the whole way. Though the rushing defense gave up more than 100 yards once again, including 95 to Terrence West, head coach Jay Gruden has to be delighted with his team’s effort in route to their third consecutive win.

Kirk Cousins had a mediocre game and was let off the hook when linebacker C.J. Mosley intercepted Cousins but fumbled in his way to the end zone, which was ruled a touchback. Had Mosley kept possession of the ball, Ravens would have scored a touchdown and gotten some momentum. That may have impacted the result of the game.

Second-year tailback Matt Jones was held to 31 yards on 14 carries against the stingy Ravens defense. Pierre Garcon had his best game of the young season and led the team in receiving with 56 yards and a touchdown.

Jamison Crowder, who has been the team’s MVP so far, had another terrific game. Crowder ignited the team with his 85 yards punt return touchdown. Dustin Hopkins failed to convert the extra point, but it did not matter in the end.

Washington will host division rivals Philadelphia Eagles next week. We will see if they can extend their winning streak to 4 games.
