The Chiefs took Chris Conley because they thought the Browns might

Some draft experts thought Kansas City's third-round receiver went a little too high.
But per reports, Kansas City thought their third-round receiver might be gone by the time they picked again.
That's why John Dorsey made a move up the draft board to grab Chris Conley. They maneuvered one spot ahead of the Browns, who reportedly eyed Conley as the third round went on.
"I had heard word that Cleveland had lunch with Chris the week earlier," general manager John Dorsey told told Soren Petro on 810 WHB Radio. "I knew they had liked him. I just thought it was worth the risk trading up a few spots to ensure we would be able to give these organization a very talented wide receiver."
Dorsey and Browns GM Ray Farmer didn't cross paths when the former was hired in 2013 and the latter moved on from his post as Chiefs director of pro personnel. But that didn't stop Dorsey from reading the situation -- and the Browns decision-maker -- perfectly.
#Browns GM Ray Farmer: I liked WR Chris Conley, kudos to #Chiefs for jumping ahead of us in 3rd round to take him.
