Texans one of four teams Tony Romo wants to play for next season, per report

It turns out that one of the teams Tony Romo wouldn’t mind playing for is the Houston Texans.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported on Thursday that the Texans are one of four teams that Romo would like to play for next season since they have a roster that can contend for a Super Bowl under the direction of a viable quarterback.

The Cowboys will listen to offers for Tony Romo, sources said, once owner Jerry Jones has his meeting with the Pro Bowl quarterback. Romo prefers to be moved to a contending team — specifically, the Texans, Cardinals, Broncos or Chiefs.

Romo would be a great quick fix for the Texans at the quarterback position.  One big problem is that he would have a hard time staying healthy behind their weak offensive line.

Another issue is that Houston wouldn’t be able to stay under the cap if they have to pay Romo as well as Brock Osweiler.

While Romo would like to play for the Texans, it was reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network on Wednesday that they’re not an option for the star quarterback.

It looks like if the Texans are going to make any improvements at quarterback in 2017, it will have to come through the NFL Draft.  As we know, owner Bob McNair made it clear  earlier this week that they will in fact look to draft one this year.
