Texans complete assistant coaching hires

HOUSTON (AP) Houston Texans coach Bill O'Brien has completed his coaching staff, hiring 16 coaches led by defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel, and retaining Bob Ligashesky, who took over as special teams coordinator in December.

Crennel, the former Cleveland head coach who spent 2010-12 with Kansas City, signed a three-year deal to be Houston's defensive coordinator.

The Texans also hired former New England linebacker Mike Vrabel (linebackers), Paul Dunn (offensive line), George Godsey (quarterbacks), Sean Hayes (assistant strength and conditioning), Stan Hixon (wide receivers), Tim Kelly (offensive quality control), Will Lawing (defensive quality control), Charles London (running backs), Anthony Midget (assistant secondary), John Perry (tight ends), Anthony Pleasant (assistant strength and conditioning), Jim Bernhardt (director of football research), John Butler (secondary), Doug Colman (assistant special teams) and Craig Fitzgerald (head strength and conditioning).
