Terrell Owens says he'd be open to working out for Patriots

The New England Patriots are thin at wide receiver, but would they be in the market for an almost 42-year-old former All-Pro?
Terrell Owens would love to know. The former flamboyant wideout, who hasn't played in an NFL game in five years, is intrigued by the possibility.
"Would I be open to it? Considering an organization like the Patriots? Yes," Owens told the Boston Globe. "Knowing Tom [Brady] and understanding the structure of what Bill Belichick, how he runs his ship, I have no problem with that. A lot of people will obviously speculate into what I may bring from a negative standpoint to that organization."
The real question is if Owens, known for his outlandish touchdown celebrations, would mesh with the no-nonsense Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick.
"I'm not that same guy I was five, 10 years ago," he said. "In terms of me understanding the situation that I'm getting myself into, then I would have to govern myself accordingly, understanding there's going to be a lot of negative things said if that were to be the case.
"Am I capable of playing? Absolutely."
Owens, who is a semifinalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, has 1,078 receptions for 15,934 yards and 153 touchdowns during his illustrious career.
But despite his five-year absence from NFL competition, Owens doesn't doubt he can contribute.
"Do I consider myself in top game shape? No," Owens said. "But could I come in a help a team? Yes, absolutely.
"I still know how to play the game enough to be productive. Could I get myself in better shape as the season goes on? Absolutely."
