Suck for Luck: Week 6

Andrew Luck’s Weekend
26-33, 370 yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 INT in a 48-7 win over Colorado
The Suitors
1. Indianapolis Colts: 0-5
Week 5 performance: Lost 28-24 to Kansas City: The Colts had a second quarter 17-point cushion at home, but gave up 21 straight points to lose their third home game, and fifth game overall.
The Quarterbacks
The Guy: Curtis Painter: 15-27, 277 yards, 2 touchdowns
On the Shelf: Peyton Manning (injured), Dan Orlovsky
Would they take Luck? Not a question. Yes. Yes. Yes. A lot of money is tied up in Peyton, but Luck's a once in a generation talent. Polian and Co. can't pass him up.
2. Miami Dolphins: 0-4
Week 5 performance: For the first time all season, the Dolphins didn’t lose. They had a bye.
The Quarterbacks
The Guy: Matt Moore
On the Shelf: Chad Henne (injured)
Would they take Luck? Yes.
3. St. Louis Rams: 0-4
Week 5 performance: See hilarious joke above! Bye week.
The Quarterbacks
The Guy: Sam Bradford
On the Shelf: A.J. Feeley
Would they take Luck? Probably not. They’d either trade the first overall pick for two or three first round picks (yes, Luck’s that good), or select another top prospect. Two guys they’d potentially consider? Jerel Worthy, the big DT out of Michigan State, or Justin Blackmon, the electric wide receiver out of Oklahoma State.
4. Denver Broncos
Week 5 performance: Lost 29-24 to San Diego: Tim Tebow came off the bench to ignite a fourth quarter comeback, but it wasn’t enough.
The Quarterbacks
The Guy: Tim Tebow: 4-10, 79 yards, 1 TD, 38 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD
On the Shelf: Kyle Orton, Brady Quinn
Would they take Luck? Yes. Tim Tebow may sell a lot of jerseys. Sure, he may be the fan favorite. And of course, he’s making first-round money. He’ll make an awfully nice H-back lining up behind Luck.
5. Arizona Cardinals
Week 5 performance: Lost 34-10 to Minnesota: The Cardinals were down 28-0 before the game even started and never fully recovered, losing in Larry Fitzgerald’s Homecoming Game.
The Quarterbacks
The Guy: Kevin Kolb: 21-42, 232 yards, 0 TDs, 2 Interceptions
On the Shelf: Ron Bartel, John Skelton
Would they take Luck? This would be an interesting one. Kolb was given close to $21 million guaranteed this offseason, but has been downright awful this season. Aside from some circus catches from Larry Fitzgerald, Kolb’s had very little for the highlight reel. Is he a future All-Pro? He doesn’t look like one. An NFL starter? Even that’s in question. If Luck was available here, the Cardinals would have to think long and hard.
The Other Guys
The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th ranked quarterbacks on Schrager’s “Big Board”:
2. Landry Jones, Oklahoma: 31-50, 367 yards, 3 TDs in a 55-17 win over Texas.
3. Matt Barkley, USC: Off Week
4. Brandon Weeden, Oklahoma State: 24-28, 288 yards, 5 TDs in a 70-28 win over Kansas.
