Steelers sign safety Robert Golden to 3-year deal

PITTSBURGH (AP) The Pittsburgh Steelers have taken their first significant step toward addressing their depth in the secondary, re-signing safety Robert Golden to a three-year deal.
Golden set career highs in tackles (36) and passes defensed (four) while adding his first NFL interception. Golden is also an important member of Pittsburgh's special teams, serving as special teams captain in each of the last two seasons.
The 25-year-old Golden made the Steelers in 2012 as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Arizona. He appeared in 63 games, with three spot starts in the secondary.
Golden would have become a free agent later this week. The Steelers have several defensive backs ready to hit the open market, including veterans Will Gay and Will Allen.
