With All-Pro running back Le'Veon Bell back from his two-game suspension, the Pittsburgh Steelers needed to clear a roster spot for him.
Receiver Tyler Murphy was the victim of the roster squeeze, released Wednesday by the team. Murphy, who has one catch for 16 yards this season, is a prime candidate for the practice squad if he clears waivers. The converted quarterback out of Boston College was showing progress as a receiver and special teams player.
