The Steelers locked down one of their bright young defenders Saturday night.
Cornerback Cortez Allen agreed to terms on a new five-year contract that will keep him through the 2018 season. The extension has a base value of $26 million, a source informed on the negotiation told FOXSports.com.
Since joining the Steelers in 2011, Allen has played in 44 games, racking up four interceptions with 23 passes defensed.

With cornerback Ike Taylor’s career entering his 12th season, Allen will eventually assume the No. 1 responsibilities.
Steelers’ brass has been active over the past month, inking offensive guard Marcus Gilbert and kicker Shaun Suisham to long-term deals.
Allen, 25, was selected in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft from The Citadel.
