TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) Drew Stanton has agreed to terms on a two-year deal to remain as the backup quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals.
The team announced the agreement on Tuesday, ending speculation that Stanton would go elsewhere in hopes of getting a shot at a starting job.
Stanton followed Bruce Arians from Indianapolis when Arians was hired to coach the Cardinals three seasons ago. He started eight games when Carson Palmer was injured in 2014, winning five of them before he was sidelined with a knee injury.
Overall, Stanton has appeared in 16 games for Arizona. He has completed 54 percent of his passes for 1,815 yards and seven touchdowns with seven interceptions.
