The Oakland Raiders seized control of the AFC West with a 30-20 victory in primetime against the Denver Broncos.

Let’s take a look at the snap counts on Sunday, see who played how much, and what we can learn from that information.

We’ll start with the offense.

Par for the course for the offensive line, as four of the five played in 99 percent of the snaps — Austin Howard was benched for one series and played in 90 percent of the snaps. It was another dominating performance from the o-line.

The most surprising thing about this week’s snap counts is Clive Walford at 84 percent, which is easily a season-high for him.

Walford even out-snapped Amari Cooper, who appeared in just 76 percent of the snaps. But considering the game plan, it makes sense. The Raiders went big on offense and dominated the trenches.

Michael Crabtree had a quiet game — 2 catches for 27 yards — and he played just 58 percent of the snaps. Nothing to worry about, though. Crab has been fantastic all season long, and he’ll get back on track.

Latavius Murray didn’t even play half of the offensive snaps (49 percent) yet he dominated Denver’s defense. He earned JBB’s weekly Game Ball, totaling 114 yards on 20 carries, with 3 touchdowns.

Facing the No. 1 pass rush in the NFL, Mike Tice and the offensive line made it a point to double-down on protection, often utilizing a sixth offensive lineman. Denver Kirkland was the man for the job, and he have a very good showing Sunday night.

There was a Menelik Watson sighting for 10 snaps, which was great to see. Watson was solid in his time on the field, and it’s unfortunate he couldn’t play more. Perhaps after the bye week, he’ll get his starting job back.

The Raiders have been relying a lot more on their starters in recent weeks, as opposed to reaching into the depth chart and utilizing the rotation. That could be a small reason for the defensive improvement the last few weeks, among other reasons.

9 out of 11 players appeared in 84 percent or more of the defensive snaps, and 10 of the 11 were above 89 percent. So there were really only two players that primarily rotated, and that typically has been the interior of the defensive line.

Khalil Mack was once again dominant, playing in 89 percent of the snaps. He recorded 2 sacks including a sack-fumble that eventually led to a Latavius Murray touchdown.

Carrie — 84 percent of the snaps — had a rough showing, which was disappointed. He struggled in coverage just one week after the opposite was true. It seems the increased role due to Sean Smith’s injury was too much for him to handle.

Jihad Ward appeared in 59 percent of the snaps and failed to make an impact.

Darius Latham, at 48 percent, had one of his best games. 3 tackles including 1 for a loss and he was continually disruptive. He needs to play more than Ward.
