Six Points: Bills vs. Redskins

While both the Washington Redskins and the Buffalo Bills are 6-7, their season outlooks are vastly different.

The Redskins have an opportunity at a divisonal title within the NFC East. But one issue they've dealt with all season? They have yet to win two games back-to-back, and with a win over the Chicago Bears last week, can they break that notion?

And while the Bills won't be fighting for a divional title, they are still in the playoff hunt. Every win from here on out counts, and Buffalo desperately needs to start stacking each one.

Attack Washington's secondary with deep routes to Sammy Watkins

The Redskins are neither terrible nor great at defending the pass, but their secondary certainly doesn't have a shut down corner. Sammy Watkins has the ability to beat any corner the Redskins throw at him in one-on-one coverage, and the Bills need to take advantage of that. Short throws by Tyrod Taylor will help set up the deep routes.

Contain DeSean Jackson with three-deep looks

DeSean Jackson is arguably the Redskins' best offensive weapon and has the ability to score from anywhere on the field. Playing single-high safety and three-deep looks will allow Ronald Darby to contain Jackson on throws downfield, giving him help over the top with Bacarri Rambo. The Bills don't have a rangy safety, but Rambo has the ability to cover ground on the back end.

Utilize play action on early downs

There's no doubt the Bills like to run the ball with LeSean McCoy, especially on early downs. The Redskins will likely focus on stopping the run, so utilizing play action to keep the defense honest will open up the field. Taylor has the ability to roll out of the pocket and make plays with his legs, as well, which gives him more options than he'll have from inside the pocket. The Bills have to establish the run in order for this to work, though.

Spread the field and trust Kirk Cousins

Against the blitz this year, Kirk Cousins has completed 67.5 percent of his passes. That's the highest completion percentage in the league. The Bills secondary allowed 247 yards last week to Sam Bradford, his highest total in the last three weeks. If the Redskins trust in Cousins making the right decision, they should spread the field, chipping away at short yardage plays, dumping the ball to the running back or looking for the home run ball.

Contain Tyrod Taylor

Over the last three weeks, Tyrod Taylor hasn't recorded a completion percentage over 60 percent in any single game. This season, Taylor has been extremely effective rolling out of the pocket to extend the play. The Redskins can't allow Taylor to extend the play. They need to contain him in the pocket and force him to make tough decisions.

Keep an eye on Sammy Watkins

According to NFL.com, Sammy Watkins sprinted 21.15 mph on his touchdown most recent touchdown. That was the fifth-fastest speed recorded on a touchdown in Week 14. The week prior, he carried the ball at 21.78 mph, the fastest recorded time of the week. He is obviously super fast, and if the Redskins allow Watkins to get open on the deep ball, he's gone. Safeties DeAngelo Hall and Dashon Goldson need to play conservative, and the nickel defense has to be on its toes.
