Seth Roberts Rises Up for Huge Raiders Touchdown (Video)

Oakland Raiders receiver Seth Roberts met this Derek Carr throw at it’s peak to haul in the opening touchdown in Week 12.

Without question, the Oakland Raiders offense has been the catalyst to their 8-2 record coming into NFL Week 12. Though Khalil Mack and the defense have taken strides forward, it’s Derek Carr and the offense that have been rolling. So when they welcomed the Carolina Panthers to o.Co Coliseum on Sunday for action, they needed a hot start. Carr and Seth Roberts were ready to make it happen.

For starters, Carr and the Oakland running backs were absolutely gashing the Carolina defense. It felt like it was one screen pass after another to drive all the way down the field. On third-and-goal, though, the Raiders were on the 2-yard line and needed the score. That’s when Carr and Roberts made their connection.

Dropping back with great protection, Carr surveyed the field looking for the right throw. In the back of the end zone to the left side, Roberts had a slight step on his coverage. The talented young quarterback uncorked a bullet that was high to where his receiver could make a play and the coverage could not. Roberts then rose up high and met the ball at its peak to make the grab before coming down with both feet inbounds and holding on through a nasty fall back to earth:

When everyone was talking about sleeper hype in the preseason for Oakland, they had the offense in mind. And I’d guess that the offense in mind looked a lot like this.

Taking it a step further, I’d venture to say that it looks a lot like the offense does on the field most times out. While they can air it out with the Raiders, this team is balanced and dangerous. Carr can throw all day on you and then Latavius Murray and the offensive line will run all over you. It’s a good time to be a Raiders fan.
