Seattle's Bennett injured against Texans

Published Sep. 30, 2013 12:25 a.m. ET

Seattle coach Pete Carroll said defensive end Michael Bennett was OK after being taken off the field on a stretcher after injuring his lower back on a hit on Houston quarterback Matt Schaub on Sunday.

Bennett was taken to the hospital after the hit, but Carroll said he was back with the team after the game. He strained a muscle in his lower back.

Texans linebacker Brian Cushing left with a concussion in the third quarter. Cushing missed much of last season because of a knee injury.

Bennett was injured when he hit Schaub just as he got off a pass late in the second quarter. His head bent back awkwardly and he remained face down on the grass for several minutes.

Bennett is in his second stint with the Seahawks after spending the previous four seasons with Tampa Bay.
