Brandon Mebane is returning to Seattle after the Seahawks were able to lock up the free agent defensive tackle with a new contract.

Seattle general manager John Schneider announced Mebane had re-signed on Friday afternoon. Terms of the deal were not immediately known.

Mebane has spent his entire career with the Seahawks, developing into an important cog in trying to stop the run. Mebane had 35 tackles and one sack in 12 games last season for the Seahawks. Since being drafted in the third round by the Seahawks in 2007, Mebane has started 53 of 59 games.

Along with Mebane, the team confirmed the signings of wide receiver Sidney Rice, offensive lineman Robert Gallery, quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, linebacker Matt McCoy and defensive lineman Alan Branch. Third-round draft pick John Moffitt also has signed, completing the Seahawks draft class.
