Seahawks Plan To Stand, Interlock Arms During National Anthem

After days of speculation, Seahawks’ receiver Doug Baldwin revealed what his team plans to do during the national anthem.

You won’t see any players from the Seattle Seahawks take a knee or sit while the national anthem is being played on Sunday.

No protesting, no controversial objections; just a public demonstration of unity.

Wide receiver Doug Baldwin posted a video on Facebook Saturday evening, detailing what the Seahawks plan on doing during the anthem.

“We are a team comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds,” Baldwin said in the video. “And as a team, we have chosen to stand and interlock arms in unity. We honor those who have fought for the freedom we cherish. And we stand to ensure the riches of freedom and the security of justice for all people. Progress can and will be made only if we stand together.”

Baldwin and Co. have decided to take a vastly different approach than that of fellow NFL players Colin Kaepernick, Eric Reid, and, more recently, Brandon Marshall.

Prior to posting the powerful video, Baldwin was asked on Friday about how proud he is of Seattle’s plan.

“I’m extremely proud,” Baldwin said. “I’m excited. Extremely proud. Like I said, it makes me want to cry almost, just how our team has handled this and the discussions we’ve had and how we’ve come together. It’s been absolutely amazing.”

The star wideout isn’t the only Seahawk that’s pleased with the demonstration, as teammates took to social media shortly after the video was made available.

In any case, Seattle’s display of team-wide unity sounds like it’ll really be something to take in.

After so much back-and-forth about those who chose not to acknowledge the anthem, seeing a well-thought-out act of togetherness is really a breath of fresh air.
