Seahawks keep Jermaine Kearse despite initial fears of him bolting

The Seattle Seahawks have re-upped with wideout Jermaine Kearse on a three-year deal worth $13.5 million, FOX Sports NFL Insider Mike Garafolo confirmed Thursday.

Kearse is the third player Seattle has retained this week, previously agreeing to deals with defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin and cornerback Jeremy Lane.

It was believed that Kearse was going to leave the Seahawks, whom he's played for during his first four seasons in the NFL. In January, Kearse told ESPN that he would not be giving the Seahawks a hometown discount.

"I love my hometown, but I've put in too much hard work to give a discount," Kearse said in January. "My number one priority is to take care of my family's future, so I will consider all opportunities."

Kearse finished with 49 catches for 685 yards and five touchdowns in 2015. Kearse is probably most remembered for his game-winning touchdown in overtime against the Packers to send the Seahawks to their second straight Super Bowl.
