Scare tactics aside, Seahawks' Irvin plans to rattle Bridgewater again

Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin created a stir following last month's victory at Minnesota, telling a reporter that Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was "so scared" and rattled in the 38-7 loss.

Irvin attempted to downplay the comment after it went viral on Twitter, noting that he and Bridgewater are good friends and played against one another collegiately. Yet, when reminded of the incident Thursday, Irvin told reporters there was truth to his words.

“That’s my man,” Irvin said. “But I speak the truth. We had him rattled, that was just it.”

Bridgewater, who finished with only 118 yards passing in the lopsided defeat, exchanged jerseys with Irvin at the end of the game - at Irvin's request. He later told reporters in Minnesota that it was "embarrassing" to hear Irvin's assessment.

“Bruce is still a good player, and a great guy off the field also,” Bridgewater said in December. “I’m going to make sure that I remember those words.”

Irvin said he has not talked to Bridgewater since the last meeting and joked Thursday that the second-year quarterback "probably trashed" his jersey, but emphasized that Seattle's defense wants Bridgewater to feel the same way in Sunday's rematch.

“It is what it is,” Irvin said. “Come Sunday, going to try to rattle him again.”
