Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor finds wide receiver Sammy Watkins at the back of the end zone for Watkins’ first touchdown of the 2016 NFL season.

The Buffalo Bills had a Week 14 home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the snow. Buffalo entered the game 6-6 on the year and had its AFC Playoff hopes hanging on by a thread.

The Bills needed a big play in the first half offensively to keep pace with the Steelers and got one from a familiar face. On a short field set up by a second Ben Roethlisberger interception, Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor would find wide receiver Sammy Watkins open in the back of the end zone for six.

That score by the Bills could their 14-point deficit in half after the made PAT. This was also Watkins’ first touchdown reception of the season. Remember he was supposed to miss most of the season when he got hurt in training camp.

Buffalo has been hovering around .500 thanks to its strong running game by the mobile Taylor and Pro Bowl running back LeSean McCoy. The Bills would be a serious playoff contender in other years in the AFC, but the AFC West has three teams with 8-4 or better records on the year.

Buffalo needs to catch fire in the final quarter of the season to have a shot at getting into the AFC Playoffs. 10-6 probably gets the No. 6 seed in the AFC. Keep in mind that Buffalo has the longest active playoff drought in the NFL.

The last time the Bills made the AFC Playoffs was in the 1999 NFL season. They were eliminated in the 1999 AFC Playoffs by something called the Music City Miracle in Nashville. This isn’t a bad Bills team, but they really seem to be middle of the pack in the AFC this season.
