Saints played Week 3 without a huge percentage of their salary cap

The New Orleans Saints were without Drew Brees on Sunday, but it was far, far more than just him who they were missing. As Saints fans know, the team is waiting to get players like Keenan Lewis and Jairus Byrd back on the field, but also are stuck still paying off some remaining contracts as well.
Thanks to an interesting statistic from the Twitter account of Canal Street Chronicles, we found out that the team was missing an incredible percentage of their 2015 salary cap on Sunday.
That's a pretty amazing number to think about, as it means that nearly 50 percent of the players who they paid out of this season's cap were not in action. This includes Junior Galette obviously, as well as multiple other big names.
Apparently, Brees was just one of many players who the team missed in the Week 3 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Here's to hoping the Saints can get some of their key players back sooner than later.
