Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is in the midst of a contract stalemate with his team. Set to enter the final year of a rookie contract, all reports seem to suggest that the two sides are far apart in extension negotiations.

Skilled in the art of rhetoric, Wilson hasn’t necessarily avoided the topic since reports indicated an impasse a couple months back.

Appearing on "The Adam and Joe Show" on 99.9 The Fan in Raleigh on Monday, Wilson drew a pretty interesting comparison between his current contract situation and his transfer from North Carolina State to Wisconsin prior to the start of the 2011 season:

“At the end of the day I trust the process. I know God’s going to put me wherever he wants to have me. I hope that's Seattle,” Wilson said. “I love it there, it’s a great place to play. I’ve also gone through the ups and downs and been moved around before.”

If you remember correctly, Wilson transferred from the Wolfpack to the Badgers in part because then North Carolina State head coach Tom O’Brien had issues with the quarterback also concentrating on his baseball career.

Wilson continued:

“Just like I love N.C. State and love playing there … having to go somewhere else and start new. Ultimately I know mentally and physically and spiritually I’m prepared for whatever. Every day I’m going to go to work. I’m not the type of player to hold out because I want to be the best player I can be.”

It’s an interesting comparison for a quarterback that’s in the middle of a contract dispute to draw. This could potentially be Wilson’s way of telling Seattle that he would have no issue moving on should the two sides fail to reach an agreement on an extension. Though, it must be noted that Seattle can very easily place the franchise tag on the Super Bowl-winning quarterback the next two years, so he doesn’t necessarily have that nuclear option available to him at this point.
