Russell Wilson heaves 57-yard touchdown to Tyler Lockett (Video)

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson chucks it long to hit wide receiver Tyler Lockett in stride on an incredible 57-yard touchdown pass.

The Seattle Seahawks were already up 17-3 on their NFC West division rival Los Angeles Rams on Thursday Night Football at CenturyLink Field on Thursday, Dec. 15.

Seattle had played great defense all game against a bewildered rookie quarterback in Jared Goff. The Seahawks put this game out of distance for the Rams with this sensational 57-yard touchdown bomb from Russell Wilson to Tyler Lockett.

Wilson was coming off one of his worst performances as an NFL quarterback in Week 14. He threw five interceptions on the road against the Green Bay Packers in a 38-10 loss. Wilson and the Seahawks play better at home and took advantage of a Rams team that saw former head coach Jeff Fisher fired on Monday.

There was a serious communication breakdown in the back-end of the Rams defense. This unit had been the team’s staple, as Gregg Williams is still one of the best in the business on that side of the ball.

However, seeing Fisher fired less than 72 hours before kickoff did not help this awful NFC team get ready for Thursday Night Football. This was the kind of play that Wilson needed to regain confidence in the pocket. He too often scrambles away from lackluster protection to improvise.

To help with his pocket presence, Seattle general manager John Schneider drafted former Kansas State Wildcats standout Lockett as his deep vertical threat. Lockett was going to be a great special teams player in the NFL coming out of Kansas State, but his NFL upside as a receiver was up in the air.

He may never be a high-volume NFL receiver, but Lockett can absolutely burn outside the numbers for the Seahawks passing game. This pass from Wilson to Lockett was amazing.
