Romo will play on as X-rays show no damage to ribs

Published Sep. 9, 2013 3:53 p.m. ET

Tony Romo should be able to keep playing through a rib injury sustained against the New York Giants after X-rays showed no structural damage.

Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said on the team's flagship radio station Monday that the quarterback will be sore but that X-rays were negative and he wouldn't miss Sunday's game at Kansas City.

Romo was out for Dallas' final offensive play of the first half after getting crunched between two defenders in a 36-31 victory over the Giants on Sunday night. He returned in the second half.

Romo played several games with broken ribs in 2011. He said after the game he would be fine and the injury was ''nothing really crazy.''
