Rex Ryan: We'll give Jets 'our best shot' in next week's spoiler game

Both the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets came away with wins in Week 16, but their victories had far different implications on their respective seasons. The Jets now control their own destiny for a playoff berth, with a win in Week 17 locking up a spot in the postseason. The Bills have nothing to play for as they've been eliminated from playoff contention for two weeks now, but that doesn't mean next week's game won't mean something.
After all, it will be the Bills hosting the Jets in the final game of the season, with Buffalo standing in New York's way of a playoff spot. Of course, Rex Ryan would prefer to be the team playing for the postseason, but he'll certainly give his former team everything he has in Week 17.
"We don't want to be in a spoiler role. That wasn't our goal," Ryan said after the game. "But the Jets know they're going to get our best shot."
Ryan supposedly isn't on the hot seat so it's not as if he's coaching for his job, but controversy and criticism has been an issue for the Bills this season. Players have questioned Ryan's scheme and play calling, leading to some frustration in the locker room. Ryan vows to get things right on defense, though.
"Everyone knows what kind of coach I am," he said via Mike Rodak of ESPN. "I'll get this thing right. I'll get this defense rolling."
