Rex Ryan to Herm Edwards: Don't need your advice on how to coach Jets

Herm Edwards used to coach the New York Jets. That's used to. Rex Ryan runs them now, and he can do without any advice on how to handle his team from the former coach.
Edwards, along with fellow ESPN commentator Steve Young, said Geno Smith shouldn't have started at quarterback last Sunday after he missed a Saturday night team meeting because of mixing up the time due to the three-hour time difference in San Diego from the East Coast.
"If Herm Edwards gets to coach another team again, then he can do exactly what he wants," Ryan said this week in a New York radio interview (via Newsday). "I'm going to run this team the way I see fit -- not how Steve Young sees fit, not how Herm Edwards (sees fit).
"No offense, I don't care to be compared to (Edwards), anyway," Ryan said.
Edwards was 39-41 in five seasons with the Jets, taking them to the playoffs three times. In his sixth year with the club, Ryan has a 43-42 record and two playoff appearances.
