Report: Saints to remove Super Bowl image that includes Darren Sharper

Published May. 12, 2015 1:03 p.m. ET

In a move that was called "common sense" by a team executive, the New Orleans Saints have decided to remove a Super Bowl image from Champion's Square, according to John Simerman from The New Orleans Advocate.

The reason? Darren Sharper is in the picture.

“It’s common sense. We don’t even want the perception that that’s an individual we’re celebrating,” Ben Hales, a team executive, told The Advocate on Monday.

As Simerman points out, the image is the one of Tracy Porter returning his late interception for a touchdown to lock up the 2010 Super Bowl victory. The issue is that Sharper is in the background of the image celebrating the interception.

Sharper has pleaded guilty or no contest to charges of sexual assault in four states.
