Report: Richard Sherman fined for hit on Bills kicker Dan Carpenter

The NFL fined Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman for unnecessary roughness for his hit on Buffalo Bills placekicker Dan Carpenter, according to multiple media reports.

The amount of the fine was not reported, but the fine is likely $9,115, which is the amount taken from a player for a late hit.

During the end of the first half in Monday night's game against the Bills, Sherman was attempting to block a field goal attempt, but came offsides hitting Carpenter low. Officials did not attempt to stop Sherman by blowing the play dead.

Sherman was not flagged on the play, even though NFL senior V.P. of officiating Dean Blandino tweeted during the game that a flag should have been thrown.

The next day, Carpenter's wife, Kaela, implied in a tweet that Sherman should be castrated for what she believed to be a dirty hit on her husband.

She later apologized for the post, saying that her attempt at humor was not received the way she intended.

Sherman called the apology "BS".

“It's not surprising at all,” Sherman said. “This is a day and age, you've got the Ku Klux Klan running around. People say whatever they want, and there's very little consequence. For her to say something like that and then have a BS apology like she did, it's just the way of the world.
