Report: Patriots work out former Broncos RB Montee Ball
The New England Patriots have a bevy of running backs on the roster and cut ties with Travaris Cadet on Tuesday, but they may not be done shifting around the backfield.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Patriots worked out former Denver Broncos second-round running back Montee Ball on Monday.
Ball was waived by the Broncos in early September, but hadn't generated any real buzz until now. The workout doesn't mean a signing is imminent for Ball, but at the very least he's caught the attention of one team.
Ball was a second-round pick of the Broncos in 2013 when he carried the ball 120 times as a rookie before falling off in 2014. C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman emerged as the top backs in Denver, leading to Ball's release.
Along with Ball, the Patriots also reportedly worked out running back Darrin Reaves, tight ends Brandon Bostick, Brian Leonhardt and Konrad Reuland, and quarterback Zac Dysert.
