REPORT: Jamaal Charles to play vs. Steelers

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The Kansas City Chiefs have issued their final injury report of the week, and there are some interesting notes.

On Friday afternoon, the Chiefs concluded their three days of practice in preparations for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night. While we already detailed all the injury woes for the Steelers, the Chiefs are apparently getting healthier.

The headliner is running back Jamaal Charles. Charles, who has been listed as doubtful for each of the first three games, is now questionable. He practiced with the team (instead of scout team only) for the first time this season.

ESPN NFL analyst and insider Adam Schefter is reporting that despite being officially questionable, Charles will be playing when the lights come on. Obviously, if true, this would be a huge boost to an offense in need of one.

According to head coach Andy Reid, the only players who are listed as OUT are guard Jah Reid and running back Charcandrick West. Both are coming back from ankle injuries. However, there is no mention of Laurent Duvernay-Tardif or Parker Ehinger on the injury report, which means they should be good to go. It stands to reason that Duvernay-Tardif will be starting at right guard, while either Ehinger or Zach Fulton mans the left side.

Also of note, Marcus Peters is not on the report after being out on Wednesday and Thursday with the flu. He practiced on Friday. Tamba Hali is listed as questionable, but it would be stunning if he doesn’t play. He’s mostly rested this week. The main questionable player is Phillip Gaines, although his return to practice on Friday is a great sign.
