Report: Giants WR Nicks has surgery

Hakeem Nicks has undergone successful surgery on his right foot, with a screw inserted to hasten the healing process in the fifth metatarsal bone he fractured while running a route on Thursday during an OTA drill.
The surgery was performed in Charlotte, N.C., by foot and ankle specialist Dr. Robert Anderson on Friday.
The Giants have set a 12-week timetable for Nicks' return. Nicks' agent, Peter Schaffer, told the New York Post, "We will know more next week,'' regarding the earliest Nicks can be expected to return.
The Giants open up their regular season Sept. 5 against the Cowboys and Nicks, unless he experiences a setback, could be available for that game. He likely will sit out the entire training camp, set for July 26 to August 16 at the University at Albany.
As the team's top receiver, Nicks last season caught 76 passes for a career-high 1,192 yards and seven touchdowns.
