Report: Dolphins won't try to hire Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh

It's still early in the season, but the Miami Dolphins are likely thinking about finding a head coach in the offseason. Interim head coach Dan Campbell is at the helm for the time being, but there are no indications that suggest he's the long-term answer.

Reports have surfaced that the Dolphins are expected to inquire about Saints head coach Sean Payton, but that connection will have to wait until the season is over. Another name that has been linked to the Dolphins in the past is Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh. However, according to Peter King of MMQB via ProFootballTalk, the Dolphins won't attempt to lure him from Michigan.

Harbaugh was a candidate to coach the Dolphins after the 2010 season when he met with the owner and general manager in Miami. Of course, Harbaugh declined and joined the 49ers.

The connection is there with both Dolphins owner Stephen Ross and Harbaugh being Michigan graduates, but it doesn't sound like that will be enough. In fact, it's unlikely anyone will be able to pull Harbaugh from Michigan after the early success he's had there.
