Report: Chicago Bears work out DB Sherrod Martin, RB Daniel Thomas

The Chicago Bears could be looking to add some veteran help on both sides of the ball this week, as Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports about a couple former second-round selections at Bears minicamp for a tryout.

First, Biggs Tweeted that defensive back Sherrod Martin was in attendance.

Moments later, the reporter noted running back Daniel Thomas' presence.

Martin was drafted by the Carolina Panthers when John Fox was still the team's head coach, so there's an element of familiarity on his side. He started 36 games and intercepted seven passes through four seasons with the Panthers (2009-2012). A knee injury robbed Martin of his 2013 season, but he came back to play 13 games as a reserve defensive back for the Jacksonville Jaguars last year.

Thomas was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 2011 and has been disappointing in the four seasons since. Thomas' career statline looks like a solid season's worth of production for Matt Forte. The former Dolphin has 1,480 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, plus 55 receptions for 412 yards and three scores, to his name.
