Report: Cam Newton focused on passing accuracy heading into 2015

Cam Newton has an incredibly strong arm, there's no denying that. While his arm strength may be undeniable, his accuracy is something that needs to be improved, as David Newton of ESPN points out.
"Newton ranks 23rd in completion percentage (59.5) since entering the NFL as the top pick of the 2011 draft. He has the highest percentage of off-target passes (21.5) since 2011, according to ESPN Stats and Information."
Obviously, the numbers don't lie when it comes to accuracy, but they don't tell the full story either. Ron Rivera had an interesting opinion on the subject and why the team was focused on Newton's footwork this offseason.
"He's got such a strong arm that on certain throws he doesn't have to really get his feet set,'' coach Ron Rivera said of Newton on Thursday as Carolina wrapped up a three-day minicamp. "We're working on getting his feet in proper position and stepping into throws.''
With a new contract under his belt, confidence that never waivers and some strong weapons around him, Newton now turns his attention to making sure he's playing at the highest level he can in 2015. If he continues to improve, the sky is the limit for Carolina this season.
