Adrian Peterson wants to play for a new team, according to a report.

ESPN’s Ben Goessling reported Friday that he has been told Peterson “wants to play elsewhere.”

"Thought continued meetings between AP, Vikings were a good sign," Goessling wrote on Twitter. "But those have stopped. Was told today Peterson wants to play elsewhere."

This should not at all come as a surprise. Peterson has said in public comments that he thought a fresh start might be best for him. Then he said he still had “concerns” about the Vikings even after meeting with them, which wasn’t exactly the strongest endorsement. Plus his agent is fighting with the Vikings.

Peterson has not demanded a trade from what we know, while the Vikings say they will not release the running back. It looks like Peterson’s next option may be to hold out and not report to camp in order to force a trade. He reportedly is willing to restructure his contract if he is traded, and he has his eye on a few teams.
