Reid: Marcus Peters would've gone top 10 without off-field drama

Andy Reid thinks the Chiefs got themselves a steal in Round One.

Save for a few well-documented issues in college and a dismissal from the Washington Huskies, Reid and the Chiefs think Marcus Peters would've gone much higher in round one.

“I think you probably would have said he would have been a top-10 draft pick had that not occurred," Reid said.

But it did occur, and Peters probably fell because of it. He dropped out of Reid's projected range for a bevy of behavioral issues, including head-butting an opponent and getting into a physical confrontation with at least one coach, per reports.

That's why, despite his obvious on-field gifts, his selection at No. 18 was viewed as a reach by several draft analysts.

Reid still thinks he got a steal.

“We did our homework," Reid said. “We feel comfortable bringing Marcus into this situation."
