Updated Mar. 4, 2020 4:31 p.m. ET

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) The Washington Redskins have re-signed quarterback Colt McCoy, safety Duke Ihenacho, linebacker Mason Foster and defensive lineman Kedric Golston.

The team announced the moves after the opening of the free agency period Wednesday.

McCoy will return as the backup quarterback behind Kirk Cousins after the Redskins released Robert Griffin III. McCoy has 25 career NFL starts and has thrown for 26 touchdowns.

The 26-year-old Ihenaco was Washington's starting strong safety before a wrist injury ended his 2015 season.

Foster, 27, appeared in 13 games and started five last season for the Redskins.

Golston, 32, is the Redskins' longest-tenured player after being picked in the sixth round of the 2006 draft.
