Ravens LB Suggs announces marriage

Published Dec. 15, 2012 12:00 a.m. ET

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs is a married man.

Suggs posted the announcement with a photograph of himself and longtime girlfriend Candace Williams on his Facebook page, The Baltimore Sun reported.

"Last night I married my best friend and the love of my life," Suggs wrote. "Our son gave her away and our daughter looked like a miniature version of my beautiful bride as she stood next to her. I'm a lucky, lucky man. Thank you God for all of your blessings and for showing me such amazing favor."

Suggs' publicist confirmed the couple got married in a small ceremony of about 30 people.

Suggs and Williams applied for a marriage license in Maryland recently while resolving issues related to Williams filing for a temporary protective order on Nov. 20.

She had alleged a domestic violence incident in early September, but filed no charges, the paper reported. Williams voluntarily withdrew the filing, which alleged the former Pro Bowler punched her in the neck and dragged her alongside a car he was driving while their children sat inside, on Tuesday in Baltimore County Circuit Court during a joint court appearance.

Baltimore County police said two 911 calls were placed from Suggs' address on Nov. 21. However, no reports were taken.

Suggs issued a statement last week through his publicist: "The personal issues that the two of us have faced recently have been addressed in a responsible and adult manner and have been resolved. I am certain that we will get through this matter and move forward as a happy family."

Suggs' status is listed as questionable for Sunday's NFL game vs. Denver.
