San Francisco released its latest injury report in advance of Monday’s game.

One of the names on the list, right guard Anthony Davis, draws a little more interest.

Davis missed Saturday’s practice due to non-injury reasons, per Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area. Shortly thereafter, Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News reported Davis was contemplating retirement again.

If the rumor is true, Davis will have retired for the second time in as many years.

Davis moved from right tackle to guard, thanks to the promising development of second-year tackle Trent Brown. If Davis is unable to go, Andrew Tiller would be a strong candidate to take over in his place.

Later Saturday, Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole reported, per a source, Davis isn’t retiring.

Nonetheless, Davis is still listed as questionable for Week 1.

Other 49ers Injuries

Second-year defensive end Arik Armstead is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury.

Armstead missed the vast majority of the preseason, and his absence was widely viewed as a time to give the former first-round pick a time to heal.

Linebacker Nick Bellore (knee) is also questionable.

San Francisco’s secondary could also be without cornerbacks Keith Reaser (ankle) and Chris Davis (hamstring). The Niners limited Reaser’s practices the last two days, but Davis was unable to go at all. He remains doubtful.

Defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey (knee) is also listed as doubtful. Dorsey is still recovering from an ACL tear suffered last season. Even if he’s unavailable for Week 1, Dorsey’s recovery and non-placement on an injury list, outside of weekly reports, is a good thing for San Francisco’s defense.

Fellow DT Quinton Dial (knee) was also limited in practice, although he’s listed as doubtful. Should he be unavailable, San Francisco would consider defensive end Arik Armstead on the outside and/or placing Mike Purcell at the nose.
