Rams head coaching rumors lead us to Josh McDaniels

If the latest Rams head coaching rumors are fruitful, Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is at the top of the list.
We are seeing the Los Angeles Rams go through one of the most mind-boggling transitions perhaps in NFL history. It could be — and should be — argued that the team could’ve handled Jeff Fisher differently.
The now ex-coach wasn’t removed until thirteen games in. Now the team sits at 4-10 with little motivation to really finish strong.
At least they can’t be 7-9 this year, right?
All jokes aside, McDaniels would be a great choice. Especially since other candidates, particularly Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll, have already denounced interest in the job.
It wouldn’t be McDaniels’ first stint with the team though, as he was their offensive coordinator in 2011. During that season, the Rams were in St. Louis, but their problems were very similar.

Managing the offense with the absence of Tom Brady at the beginning of the year was impressive. Not only did McDaniels have to turn to Jimmy Garoppolo, but his third stringer Jacoby Brissett.
The team still flourished, as he found ways to make their offensive weapons still valuable.
Should he come to Los Angeles, he’ll not only have to do that with Jared Goff, but also with Tavon Austin. The wide receiver hasn’t exactly lived up to his contract extension, but that’s just part of the problem.
Getting this team to consistently believe in themselves after what they’ve gone through will be most of the battle.
This, again, points to a mental edge that the Rams lacked this year. Starting 3-1 didn’t do much for a team that never thought they’d be good anyway.
And a new head coach only goes so far.
