Rams' Foles fails to reach 200 yards for seventh game in a row

The St. Louis Rams finally put together a solid first half on offense Sunday. The second half was another story.

The passing game all but disappeared after halftime for the Rams in a 21-18 overtime loss at the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday and rookie Todd Gurley was unable to bail out the offense as he was held under 100 yards rushing for the first time in five starts.

Quarterback Nick Foles finished 18-of-33 for 168 yards, failing to reach 200 for the seventh consecutive game since throwing for 297 yards in the season opener against Seattle.

“Not good enough to win. We didn’t win. So I put a lot on myself in that," said Foles, who was acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for Sam Bradford in an offseason swap of quarterbacks. "I just have to keep playing better, keep growing as a quarterback."

Foles seemed well on his way to eclipsing 200 yards after throwing for 131 and helping St. Louis to a 15-10 halftime lead. Yet he managed only 37 yards in the second half and overtime as the Rams scored only three points - on Greg Zuerlein's fourth field goal in the last minute of regulation.

"We’ve got to get touchdowns. Especially on the road, you have to get touchdowns," Foles said. "And get in the red zone. We had field goals that were outside the red zone, way outside the red zone, and Greg did a great job with that. But we have to make sure we get in the red zone and get some touchdowns.”
