The Pro Football Hall of Fame is hoping a beefed-up refund policy for fans who attended the Packers-Colts Aug. 7 exhibition season opener will ease some of the criticism – and legal pressure – that has mounted since poor field conditions forced that game’s cancellation.

The Hall of Fame – which is facing fan litigation after offering only a refund on game tickets – issued a new policy on Thursday that says ticketholders will receive the face value of their tickets, plus “all processing, shipping and handling fees, pre-paid parking purchased through the Hall of Fame, pre-sale reservation fees, and one night of hotel accommodations to eligible fans, subject to appropriate review, approval, and verification.”

The Hall’s we’re-so-sorry package also includes four tickets to the Hall of Fame museum and a laundry list of less valuable souvenirs and discounts.

But – as noted on the Hall’s webpage: “If you accept the Reimbursement Plan the HOF has extended to you, you will be releasing all of the claims asserted in the lawsuit and will not be permitted to participate in any way or receive anything that might be obtained in the lawsuit.”

So if you were around to see this:

And hoped you’d see this:

Then the Hall of Fame has a deal for you.
