Philadelphia Eagles' loss to Detroit is a step in the right direction

A loss is just what the Philadelphia Eagles needed.

How could this be? Losing a game is never a good thing. Especially when you lose to an inferior Detroit Lions team like the Philadelphia Eagles did Sunday afternoon.

Believe it or not, though, this is exactly what the Eagles needed.

Following their first three contests of 2016, the Eagles were on top of the world. Their defense was dominating and their offense was firing on all cylinders, thanks in large part to sensational rookie quarterback Carson Wentz.

    However, winning isn’t the sole ingredient for success. Every once in a while, a team needs to deal with a bad taste in its mouth, which is exactly what the Eagles are experiencing right now.

    This is the first time (and certainly not the last) that Wentz will have to deal with the stinging side effect of a loss in the NFL. While it’s good that he’s seeing early success, coping and learning how to rebound from a loss is a major part of Wentz’s development.

    Losing football games obviously isn’t fun. But knowing the pain that comes along with losing is part of what makes a good team a great team.

    Before Sunday’s loss, the Eagles were a good team. Now that they’ve hit a low point, it’s not out of the question to believe they will come back better than they were in the first three weeks of the season.
