Philadelphia Eagles LB Kiko Alonso has a bit of a legend following him

You don't want to mess with Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Kiko Alonso. The ferocious inside linebacker might be a bit more reserved when in front of the media, but he is the complete opposite on a football field.

According to an in-depth profile done by Tim McManus of Birds 24/7, Alonso's on the field persona started all the way back in his high school football days.

"I remember we were just out there in shorts and a shirt (during practice), no pads, no nothing, and he was just out there tackling people," said his high school teammate Jermel Ladd, per McManus. "He is reckless in that sense. He would literally just take someone out that wasn’t really expecting it – they were expecting it, but they weren’t expecting him to finish the play. I don’t know where that comes from, honestly. It was new to me, but I know he carried that through Oregon."

At Oregon, Alonso continued to deliver crushing blow after crushing blow on the field and through his trash talk.

"Freshman year of college," Eagles wider receiver Josh Huff recalled, per McManus. "He was just like, ‘Don’t come across the middle. I’m going to have your head.’ …I’m just glad he’s on our side of the ball this year when we play the Bills and not on the other side."

Alonso sees the middle linebacker position as cut and dry, without much room for interpretation.

"The middle is owned by linebackers, so you have to let those guys know when they’re coming across the middle, whether you let them know [verbally] or let them know with your pads – that they can’t be coming across the middle like that," Alonso said. "Because you shouldn’t be coming in there. So they can think twice."

Alonso has already turned heads through his participation during the Eagles' spring practices. The Eagles got their first walk-through of training camp under way, and Alonso was once again flying around.
