Peterson apologizes, refunds offered

Apologetic organizers of the Adrian Peterson Football Camp were offering full refunds Thursday after the Minnesota Vikings star pulled out of the event because of an unexplained scheduling mix-up, The Oklahoman reported.

Parents had cause to be disappointed, with statements from both Peterson and ProCamps WorldWide -- which was running the camps in Norman, Okla. -- failing to give details of the running back's alternative plans that clashed with the annual camp.

ProCamps initially said that the star would be unable to attend because of a commitment to the NFL Network.

But a spokesman for NFL media said that Peterson was not due to film with them until next week and added, unequivocally, "There is no conflict with the camp."

ProCamps took responsibility for the "breakdown in communication" that saw it falsely promote Peterson's appearance at the University of Oklahoma intramural fields.

A statement on its website said the camps were "scheduled at a time that prevented Adrian from being able to attend" and said that anyone who no longer wanted to participate could get their money back.

The running back offered his own apology in a separate statement late Wednesday and confirmed that his schedule prevented him from attending.

Heisman Trophy winner Jason White, St. Louis Rams wide receiver Mark Clayton and Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray were still scheduled to attend the camp, The Oklahoman confirmed.
