Peter King power ranks Eagles as team to beat in NFC East
The Philadelphia Eagles have likely put the final bow on an offseason that featured rapid player movement, and as their new roster attempts to find continuity in practices, the media will attempt to predict their successes and failures. Sports Illustrated's Peter King is one of the most reputable names in the media, with access to many inside sources, and he is particularly high on the Eagles' chances in 2015.
King's latest set of Power Rankings hit the internet Monday, and it's not the Dallas Cowboys who rank as his top team in the NFC East. That honor belongs to the Eagles. Here's what King had to say to defend his position:
Philadelphia (10-6). Mike Trout says: In Chip We Trust. For the Eagles to be seventh in the NFL, he’s going to have to say: In Sam Bradford We Trust.
King ranks only the Ravens, Seahawks, Packers, Chiefs, Patriots and Vikings ahead of the Eagles overall, in that order. Cowboys fans are sure to feel snubbed after finishing the 2014 regular season at 12-4, but King must feel that Murray was an irreplaceable piece factor for the Cowboys to succeed.
Power Rankings mean very little at any time of the year, but they mean even less during the month of June. The Eagles have a tall task ahead of them. They need their signal caller, Sam Bradford, to get healthy fast. Once he's ready to rock, the team will have to build continuity from scratch with several new faces tasked with picking up the Eagles' offensive and defensive schemes.
